Taking a breather
So I apologize for the silence on this blog, but I have been completely and utterly snowed under with MASSIVE revisions to my last book. I think I get big revisions every 5 or so books, and this was no exception. This bordered on a complete rewrite, which is difficult and discouraging but in the end I think it worked. I finished the reread last night and was, thankfully, pleasantly surprised. So I sent the ms in and now have 3 weeks to write a novella--yikes! However I managed 2000 words before the revisions hit. Here is the first paragraph:Rafe Sandoval pulled his Porsche to the curb and stared at the seemingly innocuous terraced house he’d parked in front of. It was a bit shabby, on an ordinary little street, in a bland, faceless suburb of London. And his son--his son--was inside.
Rafe and Freya are a couple I've had in my mind for awhile. In fact, I wrote 16,000 words of their story last winter before I decided it wasn't working and scrapped it--then I wrote another book, The Undoing of De Luca, in three weeks! I was a little panicked :) Since then I've changed their story a bit, and now I think (hope!) it works. We'll see...
Meanwhile I've had some very nice news, which is that Zoe and The Tormented Tycoon, released as Zoe's Lesson in the UK, received 4.5 stars from Romantic Times magazine, and was one of their December top picks! This is the first time one of my books has been a top pick, and I'm very pleased. Here is the review:
When Zoe Balfour finds out she is, biologically speaking, not a Balfour, her world collapses. She meets billionaire Max Monroe at a party and finds someone whose future is even in more peril than hers. Max is slowly going blind, and he's desperate to hide the fact--and some painful secrets--from Zoe and the world. Believing that socialite Zoe will ultimately reject him, Max forces her out of his life, unaware that she is carrying his child. The less-than-perfect hero with a tragic past and the heroine who desperately wants to love him is an irresistible combination that readers will love. The end is sure to melt even the most cynical heart. A winner!
That definitely puts a smile on my face as I turn back to the keyboard and the work-in-progress!
